Nemin.io is a free website of 11 business and marketing calculators, and using it takes less than a minute per tool. This step-by-step guide shows how to use Nemin.io: how to find the right calculator, fill in the inputs, read the results and chain several tools together. To make it concrete, we follow one freelancer, Sara, from setting her hourly rate to pricing a client website and checking whether her marketing paid off. All numbers were worked out using the same formulas the Nemin.io calculators use, checked on October 15, 2026.
Step 1: Open Nemin.io and Pick a Tool
Go to nemin.io. The homepage groups the tools into four categories:
- Website & SEO Calculators: Website Cost and SEO Cost
- Marketing & Ad Budget Tools: Google Ads Budget, ROI and Email Campaign ROI
- Pricing & Profitability Calculators: Profit Margin, Break-Even, Freelancer Hourly Rate, Agency Retainer and Social Media Pricing
- Writing & Content Tools: Word Counter
You can also open any calculator from the Tools menu at the top of the page. Each tool has its own page under nemin.io/tools/. There is no login screen or download step. The calculator form is the first thing on the page.
Step 2: Fill In the Inputs
Every Nemin.io calculator page follows the same layout: a short form, a Calculate button, a Reset button and a Your Results panel. Below the form you’ll find a “Planning Note”, an explanation of what the tool estimates, who it’s for, how to use it, related tools and a short FAQ.
Most fields take plain numbers. Money fields are in U.S. dollars, and rate fields such as conversion rate or tax buffer are entered as percentages, so type 20 for 20%, not 0.2. Some tools also have drop-down menus, for example design quality on the Website Cost Calculator.
Step 3: Calculate and Read the Results
Click Calculate and the results panel fills in straight away. The page doesn’t reload, because all the maths runs inside your browser. Most Nemin.io tools return three figures, such as a main result, a supporting total and a ratio. Click Reset to clear the form and start again.
Nemin.io doesn’t save results, so copy each answer into a note before you change the inputs.
Worked Example: Using Nemin.io as a Freelancer
Sara is a freelance web designer starting her first full year. Here is how she uses four Nemin.io tools in a row.
1. Set an hourly rate
In the Freelancer Hourly Rate Calculator she enters:
- Target annual income: 50,000
- Yearly business expenses: 6,000
- Billable hours per week: 20
- Working weeks per year: 44
- Tax buffer: 20
Nemin.io returns 880 billable hours a year, $70,000 in required revenue and a suggested rate of $79.55 an hour. Sara rounds this up to $80.
2. Price a client website
A client wants a 5-page WordPress site with basic design, copy for all 5 pages, 3 months of maintenance and no SEO package. In the Website Cost Calculator, Nemin.io gives a base estimate of $2,090, a range of $1,881 – $2,403.50 and about $418 per page.
Sara cross-checks this against her own rate. At $80 an hour, $2,090 buys about 26 hours of work. She thinks the job will take around 24 hours, so the estimate fits and she quotes $2,090.
3. Check the profit margin
Her direct costs for the project are $600 for a premium theme, plugins and a subcontracted copy editor. In the Profit Margin Calculator, revenue of $2,090 and cost of $600 give a profit of $1,490, a margin of 71.29% and a markup of 248.33%. Those cost figures don’t include her own time, which is already priced into her hourly rate.
4. Measure marketing ROI
Sara spent $400 on ads that brought in two clients at $2,090 each, or $4,180 in revenue. The ROI Calculator shows $3,780 profit, an ROI of 945% and a revenue-to-cost ratio of 10.45x. That number counts project revenue, not profit, so her real return after project costs is lower, but it’s a clear sign the ads are worth continuing.

Tips for Using Nemin.io Well
- Enter percentages as whole numbers. Type 5 for 5%, not 0.05.
- Use the Email ROI tool with a click-to-open rate. Nemin.io applies the click rate to opens, not to your whole list.
- Test a range. Run each tool with cautious and optimistic inputs to see how sensitive the result is.
- Adjust built-in prices. Website Cost, SEO Cost and Social Media Pricing use fixed U.S. price assumptions, so adapt the result to your market.
